Kowalk, Betty Jane (Marriage - 20 Sept. 1958)
Miss Betty Jane Kowalk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kowalk of Colby, became the bride of Richard P. Beguhn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beguhn of Menomonie, Saturday afternoon, Sept. 20, at two o’clock at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. William R. Christian reading the marriage ceremony.
The bride was attired in a gown of Chantilly type lace and taffeta. The bateau neckline accented with an insert of tulle and embroidery. Inserts of matching Chantilly lace was detailed in the skirt with a bustle. Her fingertip veil was held in place with a crown of seed pearls. Her cascade bouquet consisted of white gardenias, stephanotis and lemon leaves.
The maid of honor, Miss Dolores Giard of Chippewa Falls, a friend of the bride, and the bridesmaid, Mrs. Emery Rahm, another friend, wore identically styled pumpkin ballerina-length gowns of taffeta with matching feathered headpieces. Their spray consisted of bronze, yellow and white mums.
The flower girl, Michele Beguhn of Menomonie, wore a white gown of lace and net over taffeta and carried a basket of colored flowers. Jeffery Eckert of Menomonie served as ring bearer.
The groom was attended by Wm. Ockler of Menomonie and Emery Rahm of Colby, Wis.
A reception and supper was held at the parish hall.
After a trip to Northern Wisconsin, Michigan and Mackinac Island, the couple will be at home near Elk Mound where the groom is engaged in farming.
The bride is a graduate of Colby High School and a graduate of Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire. The groom is a graduate of Menomonie High School.
